Johannes Hahn nominated for next EU Commission

Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations until October 31 2019, was unanimously proposed in the main committee of the Austrian National Council as a candidate for the next EU Commission. It would be his third term as EU Commissioner, provided that the new EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen includes him in her staff proposal.
“The renewed nomination of the experienced, successful and recognized EU Commissioner Johannes Hahn is the best solution for Austria and for the European Commission. I am happy that reason has won. This gives Austria a strong position in the European Commission. This also applies to Karo Edtstadler as OVP Head of Delegation and Othmar Karas as Vice-President in the European Parliament. Austria is thus well positioned in the EU“, says Franz Schausberger.
